Virginia Sacrifices

Thomas Jefferson may have been one of the fathers of our country, but he also had a pretty cool house. Jefferson spent money on Monticello, instead of nickel and dime-ing everything in construction, and NOT appreciated that attention to detail.

NOT and Dave - just a couple of good old boys, never meaning no harm. And getting to hang out with Ben Jones, "Cooter" of Dukes of Hazzard fame.  He even let Dave and NOT behind the wheel of one of the General Lees used in the show. No sign of Roscoe or Flash though.

What happens when they give you an armory but no boat any more? You end up with Harper's Ferry, West Virginia. NOT hoped he'd have no problems being there since he was Green, not Browne.

Funny, but NOT thought a lot of Virginia was old, so he was surprised not only to find Old Town Alexandria, but that it was filled with young people. (including Anna Rappaport, who served as their guide).

Being a culture vulture (or a culture duck maybe) the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts was a requisite stop, this time to see Shockheaded Peter with Heidi Marchetti.  While there, NOT checked out the big head of JFK, which reminded him of the head of Albert Einstein he had seen on an earlier visit.

And seeing that NOT has an affinity for military sights, and things like cannons, he stopped off to visit the Iwo Jima memorial and raise his own stars into the air. He always had liked the photo.

And he watched the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown, Arlington National Cemetery.
