Not Duck Stows Visits the BSO Summer Home at Tanglewood, MA in the Berkshires |
With Doug and Lis |
Summer 1997 |
To prove that he's not just a simple traveling duck, NOT decided to hitch along and check out the Tanglewood Performing Arts Center in the Berkshire Mountains. Besides, maybe he could get a chance to meet John Williams or even better Keith Lockhart and those funky Boston Pops. For a quick stop he checked out the concert hall named in honor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra's longtime conductor.
Hmm, instead of meeting orchestra members, he did get to visit with Nancy Tunnicliffe and her bagpipes. Nancy Tunnicliffe was the first soloist at the premiere of An Orkney Wedding, with Sunrise with the Boston Pops Orchestra in May 1985. She made the first recording on Philips with John Williams, and was featured in the WBGH television program in 1986. She has been invited for hundreds of performances with orchestras throughout the United States."
After a long day of classical music, nothing is more restful than letting Lis carry you around while you take in the majesty of the view. Now that's a good reason to get out of town.
