Randomness for 2010 |

2010 |
When you get to travel around like NOT Duck does, sometimes you run across places and things that just give you one or two pictures to share. Let's tour randomness collected in 2010 (and 2009).
Red Sox Championship Ring

After having had a chance to catch the Red Sox on their victory march to their first World Series in 2004, NOT got to check out one of the Championship Rings form the victory. Good thing that NOT is not into obvious bling, so it's safe for him to pose with it since he'll not try to steal it.
Kaleidoscope

Nothing too exceptional about this, but at the San Francisco Exploratorium, there is an exhibit that just cries out for NOT to visit.
Rosebud

No, it's not Citizen Kane's restaurant. But it is a landmark diner in Davis Square. When NOT lived near Tufts, he often was around, or occasionally in the diner and it reminds him of home. Dave Backman was by one day and brought NOT back for a quick visit. Viva diner culture!
Beer Hall of Fame

Another favorite hangout of NOT's in Boston was the Sunset Bar and Grill. There several friends were (very) regular patrons. Sunset featured hundreds of beers on tap, and those adventurous patrons could earn rewards by getting their beer card punched numerous times as they tried different brews (and spent lots of money too). Duck friend Dave Backman drank himself to inclusion on the Hall of Fame...excuse me, Hall of Foam. Here NOT gets a better look at the recognition of his friend's accomplishment.
Jumbo's Tail

No, despite the look, NOT is not posing with a giant turd. Rather he is posting with some of the only remains of Jumbo the Elephant.
Jumbo, the beloved mascot of Tufts Univeristy, after death was stuffed and the hid put on display in the Barnum Museum on campus. The skeleton, meanwhile, was given to the New York Museum of Natural History. Jumbo's remains were consumed in a fire in the 1970's. The only remains of the beloved pachyderm were the tail, which had been removed, and a peanut butter jar full of ashes removed after the fire from the area where Jumbo used to stand. NOT was able to visit and see the tail in the University Archives in the Wessell Library. NOT was humbled to see how small he was compared to only the tail of the great elephant. He was reminded of great Jumbo's size when he visited with LSU's original Mike the Tiger.
Strut that Duck

Over near Aburn University in Alabama, there is a bar close to campus that holds some special affection for NOT. The Strutting Duck bar should be on his list of places to visit. Maybe the ladies love their Duck there.
