One of the icons of television has been the Muppets, created by Jim Henson. Growing up in tiny Leeland, Mississippi, it is said that a young Jim thought up the beloved character of Kermit the Frog while spending time on Deer Creek.
Now on Deer Creek road there sits a one room museum dedicated to the legacy of Jim. the Jim Henson Museum, Birthplace of Kermit the Frog celebrates this favorite native son.
While some of his creations now live in some of the more famous museums in the country - including the Smithsonian Institute and the Center for Puppetry in Atlanta - this museum is a local grown tribute to the innovative puppeteer.

Inside the museum is featured a real Kermit the Frog muppet, as well as collections of his creations in various shapes and sizes. Of course, the star of the museum is Kermit, who sits awaiting visitors inside.

He is also still very patient, even with stuffed ducks. Hi Ho - NOT the Duck here with Kermit the Frog!
