To celebrate Star Wars' 30th anniversary (and face it, make some money) the United States Postal Service decided to join up with LucasFilm to celebrate this milestone. So they issued a set of Star Wars stamps, had a contest to vote on the favorite which would be issued as a single stamp sheet (Yoda won) and created special mailboxes that were scattered around the country.
The appeared not in a galaxy far far away, but rather in California
And this one in Raleigh, North Carolina.
