My Old Kentucky Home - Louisville |

It's the stereotype that little girls dream of horses. But little ducks do nothing of the kind. Horses are big. Horses are scary. But if you are Louisville, well there is nothing like the Kentucky Derby. NOT got to visit Churchill Downs on a quiet day and see what it's like. No mint juleps but also no big hats either.

"This isn't so bad. But where is the rabbit that runs next to the track?" the clueless duck wondered, mixing up horse and dog racing.
So what better way to get NOT over his fear of horses than to meet someone who has run in the Derby?

While the sign warns to not feed the horses, NOT couldn't let go of the fear that the horse was going to eat him. As a result, it was time for some tough love from Alissa to try and get NOT over the hump. If he couldn't meet the horse, maybe he could ride the horse. Of course for any jockey, he has to weigh in first.

NOT wasn't exactly at racing weight, but when he sat with Lis, they would make a good riding team.

They got the training horse, he didn't really move all that fast. Or at all even.

Just as well, NOT sometimes suffers from bad allergies and roses just cause problems.

\NOT visited the Horseshoeing Hall of Fame because he was curious to see if there were Manolo Blahniks for horses.
There weren't.
In fact it was nothing like the Bata Shoe Museum he had visited in Toronto.

Everyone kept talking about Kentucky bluegrass, but NOT kept thinking it looked too green.

It was all just too much for our magnificent mallard. This called for a rest.

All these horses made NOT hungry. So it was time for NOT and Tim Go To White Castle. No Harold or Kumar to be found at all.
Later on after a nap and recovery it was dinner at a restaurant named Proof. There was a chair for everyone each with a name. NOT didn't feel like he was a Hack, but that was the chair given to him.

The place is popular with tourists from South of the Border. Reeeeeaaaaaallllllyyyy South.

Still, if NOT couldn't get over his fear of horses, at least he had a chance to get over his fear of clowns. They were everywhere, having breakfast before going to do hospital visits. And they liked NOT so much that the duck saw that clowns were not all bad. Good thing there were no horses at Lynn's Paradise Cafe, though.

Now as for NOT's fear of being crushed by baseball bats, well the Louisville Slugger factory was not the place for NOT. He's hiding just underneath the giant bat. Big bat - small duck make him very hard to see.
