Why Fly When You Can Hike?

Up Baxter State Park

With Michael Saletnik

July 2005

For a nice summer hike, it was up to Baxter State Park in Maine, home of Mt. Katahdin, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.  A lot easier than doing it in the snow.

NOT is pleased by the lodging and is looking forward to the summits.

Atop Mt. Coe. Luckily Mike did all the walking for NOT.

NOT enjoys a rest back on North Brother after visiting Fort.

And here we go along the final leg of the Appalachian Trail.

Resting atop Hamlin Peak.  The final destination - Baxter Peak - is visible in the distance to the right of the Knife Edge

Mt. Katahdin, Baxter Peak is the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail, which begins all the way down in Georgia. NOT's been near the other end at Amacalola Falls State Park.

Rock, rock and more Rock.  No Roll luckily. NOT relaxes atop the Baxter Peak summit cairn.  He hadn't a cairn in the world.
