March 2003

The Cancer Research and Prevention Foundation has been raising awareness for National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

In order to do this, it has started a national tour - the Colossal Colon Tour. Designed to be an exhibit on Colorectal Cancer Prevention, it is touring the country.

NOT found out about it when his friend John Swisshelm told him that his Fraternity Phi Kappa Theta was volunteering at the Atlanta stop of the tour. So NOT had to check it out.

Visitors are guided through different exhibits and interactive areas to learn about colon cancer and prevention.  This colon has everything, even it's own shims.

At the centerpiece of the tour is the Colossal Colon.

According to the tour's web site - "The Colossal Colon is a 40-foot long, 4-foot high replica of the human colon. Visitors who crawl through the colon, or look through the viewing windows, will see healthy colon tissue, colon disease, polyps and various stages of colon cancer. The Colon was modeled after a real colon taken from colonoscopy film footage and is extremely lifelike.

NOT decided he was a little intimated to crawl through. No jokes please.

Stops upcoming include San Francisco, Denver, Minneapolis, Detroit, Boston and New York.
