A trip to the Australian Shepherd National Specialty in West Bend, Wisconsin |

Pockets, Adam and Amy Conn's Australian Shepherd, was invited to the ASCA National Specialty to participate in the Parade of Rescues. She's 13 years old now, and has been with them for 2 1/2 years. While 13 is a pretty good age any Aussie to reach, it's more remarkable considering she was given about six months to live when she entered Rescue due to incredibly bad health.

On the trip down with Pockets (accompanied by her two Bernese Mountain Dog "bodyguards" Panda and Bison), NOT learned about Sphagnum Moss. NOT was VERY impressed with Wisconsin's contribution to gardening!

After a couple side-winding adventures, NOT arrived in Ripon, Wisconsin, and took some time to sit outside the White School House, home of the Republican Party.

It was an exhausting drive. NOT decided to catch a nap in the hotel with Panda.

The next day, Pockets participated in the Parade of Rescues. Her story brought some tears ringside, and a huge round of applause. Of the entries, she was the oldest to enter rescue, and the oldest rescue there. She certainly enjoyed the attention, but enjoyed all the treats more!

NOT's a little shy here -- he's on the other side!
After a little shopping, we went back to the hotel to sleep some more, but posed for one more picture with the gorgeous rosette earned by Pockets.

All in all, it was a beautiful trip...
